Description
The Sous Chef plays an important part in coordinating the kitchen team here at the London Marriott West India Quay Hotel. Specific duties will include assigning schedules to the chefs, supervising production in assigned kitchen areas, running quality checks to ensure Marriott standards are being met and liaising with suppliers. The Sous Chef is a leadership role with the kitchen and thus will be a point of contact for all kitchen associates and supervisors.
Requirements
Please note that all candidates must have valid permission to live and work in the United Kingdom, and will be expected to demonstrate this proof upon invitation to interview.
Skills Required
- Excellent verbal, listening an written communications skills, and fluency in English
- A talent for innovation and creativity
- Sound IT skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Proven leadership skills and ability to give fair and thorough feedback to a team
- Knowledge of financial implications of kitchen operation, e.g. Profit and Loss statements, Balance Sheets etc.
- Expertise in menu development, cost control, allergy awareness and kitchen standards
- Awareness of current food trends
- Excellent understanding of all cooking techniques
- Knowledge of Marriott Brands Standards is highly desirable
