Travel Advisor

Travel Advisor jobs may also be called Travel Consultants jobs, Travel Sales jobs or Travel Reservations jobs. Travel Advisors help customers to book holidays or travel. Customers may contact them face to face, by telephone or via email. They are expected to demonstrate a knowledge of the products and/or regions that they are selling. They will usually aim to maximize the conversion of enquirers to bookers and may be paid extra commission on sales achieved.

Travel advisors are employed by retail travel agents, direct sell holiday companies and travel organisers. There are vacancies for full time travel advisors and part time travel advisors in all sectors of the travel industry. Most employers will deliver in-house product training. Further training may be delivered in-house or through external training providers. Most travel companies are computerised and use a CRS (computerised reservation system) to book flights, hotels and car hire. Applicants will often be asked if they have experience of using one of these systems, e.g. Sabre, Galilleo, Amadeus, Worldspan.

Travel Advisors can progress to other careers within the Travel Industry such as Customer Services, Team Leader, Sales manager or Product Manager.
